Family Housing Resources, Inc. (“FHR”), a support organization of the Industrial Development Authority of the County of Pima (the “Pima IDA”), whose mission is to create lasting solutions to help individuals and families reach financial freedom through housing support, education, and partnership.

The FHR Cares Community Investment Fund was established in 2015 by Family Housing Resources, Inc., and FHR Cares, Inc. both 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organizations in Pima County, AZ. to further support FHR’s mission through offering funding support to partner organizations doing similar mission driven work in the community. In 2019 FHR Cares has awarded $475,000 in gifts to better Pima County and foster lasting community partnerships.

FHR Cares awarded Local First AZ with $35,000 for their Fuerza Local Business Accelerator program a six-month program designed to teach underserved micro-entrepreneurs important basics for financial literacy and business development. Participants attend weekly classes on a variety of topics including marketing, business planning, cash flow management, and many more. Participants also gain critically important financial literacy through participating in a lending circle, which requires them to make on-time payments every month they are in the program.

Local First Arizona Foundation launched the Fuerza Local Business Accelerator in 2013 as a direct response to the influx of predatory lenders that target low- income Latinos who often lack financial literacy and access to resources that help build thriving businesses. “FHR Care’s generosity is helping advance Arizona’s economy and increase prosperity for all. Your commitment to the Fuerza Local Business Accelerator program enables us to deliver new and innovative ways to create jobs, improve health and well being, and increase self-reliance in under-served communities.” Kimber Lanning, Executive Director Local First Arizona Foundation.
