FINANCIAL Foundations PROGRAM

The Financial Foundations Program is a “FREE TO YOU” program that was developed for Family Housing Resources Inc., to help you build a strong foundation of financial education, grow your wealth, and achieve financial freedom. It includes an 8-10 week session course that will cover topics such as budgeting, taxes, loans, and more. After the course, you will be paired with an expert mentor who will help you make a plan to achieve your financial goals. An orientation session is required.

This course will be held online at no cost to you AND all participants that complete the program successfully may be eligible to receive up to $200.00! 

Program Information

We are currently planning our next FHR Financial Foundations courses so check here for updates. You can also fill out an interest form by clicking on the next steps button below. We can then keep you updated on late summer/fall courses. There will be a required course orientation prior to starting a class.   1. Are you willing and able to attend and complete the online program?
  2. Do you have access to technology that would allow you to attend these virtual meetings?
  3. Are you willing to be transparent with your information such as credit score, income level? This information will be kept confidential and is for evaluation purposes only.
  4. Does your household fall at or below the following income levels? (For example, if you have 4 people in your household and made $68,375 or less as your household income, you would be eligible.)

COURSE TOPICS

Over 8-10 sessions, you will be covering a wide variety of topics about your finances.  Our goal is to make sure you finish the program with a strong foundation of knowledge when it comes to dealing with your money. 

Learn how to create a realistic and achievable budget to work towards financial freedom, as well as the basics of investing to help you build your wealth for years to come.

Learn about the importance of your credit history and how to improve your credit score, how to minimize and avoid bad debt, and how to plan for a debt-free future.

Learn about the options available to you regarding filing your taxes, as well as how to maximize your credits and avoid overpaying.

Learn the basics of how to open a checking account, what options are available to you, and how to safely manage your accounts online.

Learn about the basics of insurance, what types of coverage are available and recommended for you, as well as how to properly utilize insurance should the need arise.

 Learn about the dangers and potential financial pitfalls you could encounter, as well as strategies to plan for and avoid these risks.

Learn how your behaviors, the behaviors of those around you, and your environment shape your perceptions of money, as well as determine what financial freedom and wealth mean to you
