The Homebuyer Education Workshop is now being offered exclusively online to ensure continuity of services while maintaining safety during the
COVID-19 Pandemic.
In-person Homebuyer Education Workshop will return once it is safe to do so. That date is TBD.
In order to continue providing homebuyer education to the community, there will be a cost associated with participating in online courses:
- The average class is eight hours in length, however your completion time may be different.
- Classes are informative and interactive and will help you answer many questions!
- Upon completion of the Online Homebuyer Education Workshop, participants will be provided with a certification of completion that satisfies HUD’s requirements for qualifying for down payment assistance. This certificate will be sent to you.
Online Course Info:
- Classes are offered in both English and Spanish
- Courses are not bound to a schedule and can be completed at your own pace; ie: in one sitting or spread over a few sittings
- Courses can be accessed on mobile phones and tablets
- If applicable, course is required to be taken by both adults in the household, regardless of who is on the loan
Class topics include:
- How much you can afford
- How to fix or improve your credit
- How to choose a real estate agent
- How to shop for the best mortgage loan
- The steps of the mortgage process
- The roles of the 10 professionals involved in most home purchases
- What to include in your offer
- Home inspection basics
- The steps of the closing process
